Functions:
Nourishes yin, clears Lu heat, releases toxins to benefit the throat.
Indications:
Diphtheria (Bai Ho) – white spot on throat
A swollen and sore throat, noisy breathing resembling wheezing, dry nose and lips, there may also be fever and coughing; clears inflammation, expels phlegm, and relives cough.
Diphtheria is a shaoyin channel symptom. Its hidden heat steals the mother lung-metal qi, which causes a white spot to form along the shaoyin channel in an area between the throat and the root of the tongue. This symptom originates in the lung-kidney from a combination of a weak body constitution and overconsumption of spicy food and or exposure to dry weather.
This formula combined with Sheng di nourishes blood yin, Mai men dong moistens lung yin, and Xuan shen clears the rootless fire to nourish yin and moisten dryness. Bai shao binds the yin and harmonizes ying qi; Mu dan pi purges yin fire and enters the foot shaoyin channel. Bo he clears heat and expels external pathogens to benefit the throat and ventilate the lungs. Gan cao harmonizes herbs and releases toxins. This formula is good for nourishing lung-kidney yin, descending hidden fire, expelling heat evil and eliminating abscess swelling.
Applications:
Take after meals with warm water.
